Moira Houston

I am the SBM at South Normanton Nursery School, where I have worked since 2003. I am an SLE with a specialism in school business management. I am a qualified accountant and I completed the Certificate in School Business Management in 2013. I have also completed the National College Clerk to the Governors Development Programme. Having extensive experience in all aspects of financial management, HR and administration, it is my role to ensure internal controls, policies and procedures are delivered efficiently and effectively to support all pupils and staff and ensure the smooth running of the school. My passion for the role of SBM is borne out of a drive to ultimately impact on outcomes for children. Recent work around the implementation of the 30 hours extended entitlement initiative and devising a detailed recording, assessment and analysis system to track and monitor attainment and progress have been pivotal in our school improvement work and the efficiency of the school. I wholeheartedly believe that for a setting to be outstanding, the business element needs to be ahead of the game at all times. I am looking forward to sharing expertise and good practice, continuing improving my own skills and knowledge, and making links with like-minded, passionate SBMs who want to drive forward improvement and outcomes for their school and children.
