Natasha Knight

Natasha Knight
My name is Natasha Knight and I am Senior Teacher and SENCo at Stretton Handley C of E Primary School. A small rural school with mixed age classes. I teach in a mixed age Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 class and lead EYFS and Key Stage 1. Teaching in a small school with a mixed age classes has its rewards as well as its challenges. I have worked to develop a strong and balanced skills-based curriculum, which allows for imaginative and purposeful learning ensuring progress for all learners in the classroom. The indoor and outdoor learning environments are creative, resourceful and rich in opportunities for play and learning, enhancing children’s experiences. Over the years that I have been teaching, I have implemented many strategies that have resulted in sustainable improvements including: implementing marking policies through Reception and into Key Stage 1; developing assessment and tracking documents in the Early Years and creating stimulating opportunities that inspire writing, particularly boys. I have supported several teachers to improve their own practice and contributed to the development of their outdoor and indoor environments and provision. I relish the opportunity to support individuals and teams in their own settings, to contribute significantly to improving the outcomes for children and developing the confidence of the staff.

At Alfreton Nursery School we endeavour to make every child’s unique learning journey an inspirational adventure
