We are a very experienced, highly qualified, passionate, inspiring, dynamic team. The team are always enthusiastic, supportive, warm and friendly. We are a very forward thinking team, continuously reflecting on new educational initiatives that inform and adapt our practice. Through this we celebrate individual strengths as we embrace change on our journey together. Our Governing Board are hugely involved and very supportive of everything we achieve together as a school.
We place high value on the importance and understanding of our families, children and whole school community. We strive hard to build strong relationships with all our families, ensuring trust, honesty and approachability, creating positive partnerships of support and understanding that lead to a unique family feel.
Emotional Wellbeing is at the heart of our nursery ethos and this is shared and supported with our families. We offer all families a whole range of initiatives to support their individual needs and help them to thrive. Examples include having a Mental Health trained Practitioner and offering additional family support through projects, such as The Henry Project and The Teddy Bear Project.
Our high quality, engaging, environments, both indoor and outdoor aim to stimulate fascination, awe and wonder, and motivate a love of learning. We are fully inclusive and strive for high level involvement in all environments, with full access to all areas of learning, for everyone.
As a Nursery School we follow the Early Years Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. We ensure we have a creative and imaginative approach towards learning and always value the children’s interests, meaning that there are elements of ‘Planning in the Moment’, amongst a well thought out and well planned curriculum that inspires, challenges, reflects and builds.
Our exciting, bespoke curriculum is fully differentiated, and offers a wide range of additional and specialist approaches to learning, including:
- A Book focus starting point
- Forest Schools
- Philosophy 4 Children
- MetaMaths
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths)
- Metacognition
- Physical Literacy
- Food Technology
- Emotional Well-Being
This ensures that all children have inspiring, enticing, purposeful and meaningful experiences that challenge their thinking, alongside extending their opportunities to engage and learn.
Our strong ethos for well-being is carefully monitored for all, ensuring that we have children that develop self-belief, confidence and independence, alongside engaging with high levels of involvement in their learning.
As an enhanced resource, we strive to meet all our children’s needs, working alongside Multi-Agency Professionals to ensure that all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. We work in partnership with our families and ensure inclusivity with them, as we develop understanding around the whole child through specific and specialised support.
Families are encouraged to engage in their children’s learning journey and their child’s achievements are celebrated and shared through their own individualised online learning journal. Families are supported and encouraged to share and celebrate their children’s experiences and achievements at home through this space, creating an enriched reciprocal understanding about their child.
As a school we use the Social Media platforms, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, to celebrate and share achievements and experiences, complementing our partnerships with our families, the wider community and beyond. This creates connections with a whole network of companies, educators and settings, allowing us to influence, role model, support and share, as well as engage with others to develop and enhance our own teaching and provision.
Wherever possible, we create partnerships, to enhance and develop our children’s experiences, as well as extend our knowledge, expertise and provision. This may include networking with industry, The Arts, and businesses, on a local, national and global scale. These partnerships bring expertise and skills to our team, and create further exciting developments to challenge and take our Nursery further.
Alfreton Nursery School is an exciting place for children and their families to create and share happy memories together, and we strive hard as a team to make this happen every day.
